Dr Ekwunife obtained his first degree from the College of medicine, University of Lagos and completed his residency at the department of Obstetrics and gynaecology of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

He is a fellow of the International College of Surgeons and West African College of Surgeons.

He also holds professional certification in Leadership, Reproductive medicine and Invitro Fertilisation.

He is a senior Consultant Obstetrician and gynaecologist at Iwosan Lagoon hospitals.
